Sharing your life online can bring both support and criticism. Matt and Brittany Montgomery know this all too well. They love posting pictures of themselves, but their posts often get harsh reactions. Instead of letting the negativity get them down, though, they’ve responded with a powerful lesson: stand by who you are and what you love.
Their story might sound familiar – two people meet, fall in love, and start a life together. But there’s a unique twist: Matt is much larger than Brittany, and people can’t seem to stop focusing on that.

Brittany’s journey hasn’t been easy. She spent her life feeling like she didn’t belong. Her parents were controlling, and every conversation with them left her feeling drained. This affected how she saw herself, and she started to dislike her body.
As a plus-size woman, Brittany faced two types of men: those who wanted her to lose weight and those who were only interested in her curves. After so many disappointing relationships, she was about to give up on love.
But fate had other ideas! In August 2020, Brittany met Matt online. Their bodies might have been different, but their connection was instant.
“At first, I was a little unsure,” Brittany admitted. “I’ve been in relationships where guys said they’d leave me if I didn’t lose weight. It really damaged my confidence. I even tried working out and changing my size because of it.”
Despite her doubts, Brittany and Matt fell deeply in love. Matt proposed on January 30, 2022, and they quickly began planning their future together.
Though they’re happy, they’ve faced plenty of judgment from others. Matt has noticed it: “People comment on Instagram and say I’m not man enough or big enough for her. I also see people staring at us when we’re out in public,” he shared.
But no amount of criticism can shake their love. They know what they have is real, even if others don’t understand it.
Matt has dated “normal-sized” women in the past, but those relationships didn’t work out. With Brittany, he finally feels like he’s found his soulmate. He adores her for who she is and goes out of his way to make her feel loved.

“You are worthy of infinite love, every single day,” Matt recently told Brittany. “The way we look at each other is proof that we’re meant to be.”
He even posted a photo of the two of them together, along with some of the rude comments people have made about them. It was the perfect response to all the negativity – a bold reminder of how strong their relationship is!
Matt and Brittany are determined to show the world that relationships between people of different sizes should be accepted. “I wish mixed-weight relationships were more common and seen as normal,” Brittany said.
Recently, the couple shared some big news – they’re expecting their second child, Lakelyn, in September 2023. We wish them nothing but happiness!
Love doesn’t follow any rules, and we should all embrace the idea of loving each other for who we are.
