Texas’s DEL RIO For one count of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing specific officers or employees, a Katy man was given an 18-month prison sentence in a federal court in Del Rio.
Court documents state that on August 1, 2023, 26-year-old Kevin Dominguez drove a sedan to the U.S. Border Patrol immigration checkpoint on U.S. Highway 57. Agents were alerted to the trunk by a USBP dog, which showed a person inside. Dominguez backed up and hit the USBP agent with the car when the agent saw him, then he ran out of the checkpoint. Following a fast-paced pursuit, a USBP helicopter saw two passengers get out of the car and enter an open field. One of the people was tracked down and identified as a Honduran undocumented noncitizen.
On September 13, 2023, Dominguez was charged with two counts and taken into custody on September 14. He entered a guilty plea on January 24, 2024.
