James Carville articulated his belief that former President Joe Biden could benefit his party by stepping aside, asserting, “no one wants to hear from this guy anymore.” During an episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast alongside co-host Al Hunt, Carville reflected on Biden’s current legacy. “We are all familiar with Biden. In fact, you and I know him personally. It is fair to say that we have been long-time admirers of Joe Biden. However, what he has done to himself is such that no one wishes to hear from him any longer, alright?”
Carville further remarked, “Just retreat to your condo in Rehoboth and remain there. This is not a reflection of our character or kindness. It is entirely his doing, all of it.”
He criticized Biden for not withdrawing from the 2024 race sooner and for his recent claim that he could have defeated President Trump had he chosen to remain in the contest. “This sort of trivial back-and-forth, ‘Oh, I would have beaten Trump,’ is something that no one believes at all. Then there’s the conflict with Jill Biden and Alexandra Pelosi,” Carville pointed out, alluding to comments made by Nancy Pelosi’s daughter regarding tensions with the former first lady over Biden’s eventual decision to step down.
Carville, who served as an adviser to Bill Clinton, characterized Biden as “one of the most tragic stories of American politics in my lifetime” and warned that any future involvement by Biden would be harmful. “Look, you had a commendable career. Your final act was unfortunate. Just step aside. The party is progressing. I mean, they are truly moving on. It is quite sad, but that is our reality. He is solely responsible for this situation; he has no one to blame but himself,” Carville stressed.
He has consistently criticized Biden’s choice to remain in the race, contending that the Democratic Party’s prospects in the 2024 election would have been improved without him. “However, the alternative scenario would have been if he had announced in September 2023 or August that he would not seek re-election…”
