Amy Schumer Says John Cena Was ‘Actually Inside Her’ During X-Rated Scene

Amy Schumer has revealed that John Cena was ‘actually inside her’ during the filming of an intimate scene for a movie. Schumer played a commitment-averse party girl named Amy in the 2015 romantic comedy Trainwreck, where she starred alongside Cena. Her character struggles with monogamy and becomes involved in various relationships, including one with Cena’s character, Steven, a dedicated fitness enthusiast.

Their on-screen chemistry resulted in a particularly notable and provocative scene, which both actors have discussed on several occasions. Schumer previously expressed her amazement at Cena’s physique, stating (according to the Daily Star): “It’s a whole universe, that butt… It’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.” She humorously added, “I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have s**. Just lay there.”

The comedian also mentioned a significant regret from the experience: “You know what? I didn’t get to feel his balls. It’s a major regret of mine. Major regret.” Conversely, Cena characterized the filming of the scene as ‘awkward.’ In a 2015 interview with Conan, the professional wrestler acknowledged, “It was awkward. And they wanted awkward, so we gave them awkward.”

During a guest appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena elaborated on the difficulties of shooting the scene. He recounted how the production team informed him that he would be performing an exaggerated comedic s** sequence rather than delivering scripted lines. “Amy is an angel; she made the environment so comfortable,” Cena remarked. “And then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a s** scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt s, and all those lines you had? We’re probably not going to use them; we’re just going to do this stunt s scene.’” Despite his experience performing in front of audiences due to his wrestling career, Cena admitted that acting in a s** scene was a completely different challenge.

The actor elaborated, stating, “Here’s the reality – at this moment, you all at home might believe it’s just the two of us. However, there’s an entire world behind the scenes.” He went on to describe the atmosphere on set: “Catering was conveniently located nearby, and the sound tent was just a stone’s throw away. A film production requires a multitude of people. There is nothing personal about it. Absolutely nothing. It can be quite embarrassing.

“They were essentially instructing us to engage in the most awkward scenes possible. With an audience present, it changes the experience entirely.

“I wouldn’t say it’s terrible. It’s simply not what you might expect.”

After the podcast, Schumer playfully reacted on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video of herself in bed with the caption: “John, how could you?”

She humorously added, “That intimate scene was significant to me, and I was genuinely invested in it. Plus, I’m in love with you.”

Cena also disclosed that he was reluctant to inform his then-girlfriend, WWE star Nikki Bella, about the scene in advance. In a previous interview, he acknowledged, “Nicole had every reason to be upset since I didn’t mention it to her initially. I never really approached her with, ‘I’m planning to do this.’

“Nicole was justified in her anger because I should have communicated with her from the start.”

Schumer also revealed some behind-the-scenes insights regarding the scene. When asked during an Australian talk show how she managed to maintain a straight face while filming the intimate scene, she joked, “Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to intervene?”

Although clearly a jest, her remark contributed to the lightheartedness surrounding their on-screen chemistry.

Co-star Bill Hader, who was part of the conversation, interjected, stating, “Wrestlers, they’re not pretending. When they’re in the ring, it’s all real!”

To which Schumer humorously replied, “It’s genuine.”
