When Suzette Hall heard about a furry creature living in the parking lot of the Home Depot shopping center in Compton, California, she was committed to rescuing him.
The long-time rescuer and founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 rushed to the scene right away and started driving through the parking lot until she spotted a clump of fur.
After she looked closer, she realized that it was the dog she had been looking for.
Hall approached the stray dog who showed no reaction at all. He was so exhausted that he couldn’t even raise his head.
The Dog Is Too Scared
The California rescuer was sad to see him in such a state. It was clear that the doggo had been neglected and betrayed by people for far too long.
Hall wished to rescue the dog as soon as possible, but unfortunately, he was too fearful of humans.
Once he noticed that the rescuer tried to move closer, the doggo ran away and hid.
The big-hearted rescuer tried to find him that night but it seemed like he vanished into thin air. She went home with a heavy heart but was determined to return for the doggo.
Hall enlisted the help of her volunteers, hoping that they would bring the dog to safety as soon as possible.
Although they relentlessly tried to rescue him, the pup, later named Oreo, kept avoiding getting captured.

“[F]or over a week, we have been trying to rescue this baby, up at 2 a.m. almost every day and staying late at night,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
After Hall learned that people in the parking lot were chasing Oreo, she understood why he was so terrified of people.

Since the only person whom Oreo trusted was the local security guard, Hall asked them to help her rescue the doggo, but they refused.
The rescuers didn’t let that discourage them. They were confident that they would eventually capture Oreo and give him the life he deserved.
Trying To Earn Oreo’s Trust

Knowing that the employees at the shopping center were feeding the doggo, Hall knew that setting a trap wouldn’t be useful.
“We weren’t giving up, [a] storm [was] coming, and I just couldn’t fathom him being out there in another storm. But we knew a trap wasn’t gonna work. Someone had to gain his trust,” Hall added.
Hall and her team continued trying to win Oreo over, but he was too lonely and scared. He resisted being captured every single time.
However, one afternoon, when the rescuers arrived at the parking lot, they discovered that Oreo was sleeping.
The team knew that this was the perfect opportunity to finally bring the dog to safety.
Two volunteers, Yamileth and Karla, quietly crept up on Oreo and scooped him up with a blanket.
The whole crew was relieved because the lonely stray dog was in their arms at last. He would finally receive the necessary help.

Hall put him in the passenger seat and spoke to him in a loving voice. The pup felt that he could trust her and started smiling.
The rescuer took Oreo to the vet clinic where he was examined and given a makeover.
Once the staff removed Oreo’s knotted locks and gave him a bath, the doggo transformed and turned into a beautiful boy.
Since he felt pampered and cared for, Oreo was no longer afraid. He looked at his human friends with hopeful eyes. He was ready for a new beginning.

Before long, Oreo was placed into a loving foster home. He adjusted perfectly and continues thriving day after day.
As much as the doggo enjoys himself in his foster home, he longs to find his forever humans who will give him unconditional love.
I’m sure that he will capture the heart of a wonderful family in no time.
