After a day of work, Arleth Martinez returned to her home in Baytown, Texas, and encountered a heartwrenching scene.
She saw a white puppy trying to make herself a bed in a trash can full of garbage, desperately seeking shelter from the cold.
When the puppy, later named Milly, noticed that Martinez was approaching her, she gazed at her with a sad expression on her face.
Martinez felt heartbroken. She assumed that Milly had been abandoned and she could imagine how hurt she felt.
Showing Milly Compassion
Although the pup was abandoned and betrayed by her owner, she trusted Martinez right off the bat. Her rescuer recognized her deep need for love.
While the kind woman was thinking about the best way to help her, she saw her neighbor throwing ice at Milly, trying to scare her and force her to leave.
Martinez was both sad and angry. She took the scared pup into her home, promising her that everything would be alright.
The kind-hearted woman shared Milly’s photo on social media and asked if anyone could give her a home she desperately needed.
Three Little Pitties Rescue, a rescue based in Houston, Texas, came across Martinez’ post and felt compelled to help her.
The rescue collected Milly and drove her to a clinic where she was checked and given the necessary medical care.
Apart from being dewormed, the pup received heartworm and flea prevention treatment. Milly was estimated to be around five months old.
Her caregivers reassured her that everything would be alright. They took care of her and Milly started feeling better.
Hoping To Find Her Forever Humans
The rescue placed her in a great foster home. Thanks to the love and care her fosters gave her, Milly’s wonderful personality began emerging.
The puppy enjoyed playing with toys, and above all, she loved cuddling with her foster family.
“Milly is a very gentle player that appreciates treats and cuddles. She will let you know with a gentle paw that she also enjoys belly rubs and chest scratches. And ear scratches…” the rescue wrote in her adoption profile.
As much as the lovely pup enjoys her foster home, she longs to find a place to call home.
Milly’s friends at the rescue know that she will make the perfect furry companion for any family.
She loves people and she greets everyone she meets.
“Strangers? What are those? To Milly, everybody is a new best buddy, capable of delivering pets and love,” the rescue added.
Milly hopes that she will soon meet her forever family who will give her the endless love her heart craves.
While she waits for her greatest dream to come true, her foster family continues pampering her with care.
Milly feels at ease because she knows that she will never be forced to sleep in the garbage and beg for help.
I hope that Milly will soon meet her forever humans and start the most beautiful chapter of her life.
