When a homeless person found Midge wandering the streets, they scooped her up and brought her to Desert Hot Springs Animal Care in North Palm Springs, California.
The staff welcomed Midge and soon learned more about her backstory.
She used to have a family and she got lost. The pup reportedly jumped out of a car window when her owners stopped at a gas station.
The shelter notified her owners and told them that Midge was in their care, thinking that they would be happy to reunite with her.
Her family did come to visit her but what happened next surprised the shelter staff and made Midge heartbroken.
Betrayed By Her Family

Midge’s owners promised to pick her up from the shelter after she completed her spaying procedure.
The pup waited at the shelter, believing that they would fulfill their promise, but sadly, they never came.
As time went by, Midge’s hope started fading.
Her shelter friends did everything they could to cheer her up and hoped that the doggo would soon get adopted.
They shared her story on social media on multiple occasions, hoping that she would attract the interest of potential adopters.
Unfortunately, nobody expressed an interest in adopting Midge. She continued waiting at her shelter kennel for someone to give her a chance to have a normal life.
The pup felt heartbroken as she watched many of her friends leave the shelter and get adopted while she was always the one that remained behind kennel bars.
Midge felt invisible and often wondered if she would ever realize her greatest wish and find her forever humans.

The shelter environment was too noisy and stressful for her. The pup was lonely and craved love and companionship.
Thankfully, Alex Hernandez didn’t let Midge give in to sadness. She often took her out on adventures and tried to lift her spirits.
Midge Receives Amazing News
One day, Hernandez came to pick up Midge from the California shelter and take her somewhere. She placed the pup on the front seat.
Midge breathed a sigh of relief. As they drove off, the doggo enjoyed the silence, something that she never had at the noisy shelter. She felt so peaceful that she fell asleep.
Ella Hovsepian posted footage of that precious moment on Instagram, which melted the hearts of everyone who saw it.
“Your shelter caretaker takes you out of the kennel for a break from all the barking & all you want to do is sleep because shelter pups on average get 2 hrs of sleep every night,” Hovsepian wrote in the video.
The heartbreaking video garnered a lot of attention and many people shared it. The exposure that Midge got helped her realize her greatest dream.
A wonderful family came across her video and decided to adopt her.

Midge settled into her new home and started embracing the unwavering affection of her family.
From now on, she will sleep peacefully on fluffy and comfy beds and enjoy the warmth of her home.
