Speaker Mike Johnson is insisting on complete transparency from the Department of Justice regarding all information it possesses about Jeffrey Epstein, and he is requesting an explanation from Attorney General Pam Bondi.
In an interview that was made public following the House Republicans’ decision to block a Democrat-led initiative aimed at compelling the release of documents related to Epstein, Johnson stated to Benny Johnson that the public is entitled to the truth.
His comments follow the DOJ and FBI’s determination that Epstein’s death was a suicide and that no client list exists, contrary to various conspiracy theories. This conclusion, along with Bondi’s earlier statements, has raised concerns among supporters of Trump.
“This is a very sensitive issue, but all information should be disclosed so that the public can make their own judgments,” Johnson remarked. “I advocate for transparency.”]} “`json {
In February, Bondi informed Fox News that she possessed files pertaining to the Epstein investigation “currently on my desk,” which included a document believed to identify influential individuals associated with Epstein’s sexual offenses.
However, during a Cabinet meeting earlier this month, she retracted that statement.
Now, Speaker Johnson asserts that Bondi must provide clarification.
“My response was that it is on my desk for review. This refers to the file, in addition to the JFK and MLK files,” Bondi stated. She refuted ever claiming to have a client list.
“I believe she was referring to documents that, as I gathered, were located on her desk. I am uncertain if she specifically mentioned a list or anything of that nature, but it is essential for her to come forward and clarify that to everyone,” he stated.
Trump, on the other hand, continues to support her.
Nevertheless, several of Trump’s prominent allies, including lawmakers and former advisor Elon Musk, are outraged that the files remain confidential.
“The attorney general has managed that situation very effectively. She has performed admirably, and I think that upon reviewing it, you will comprehend it,” Trump remarked to reporters on Tuesday at the White House.
Johnson expressed his eagerness to have the matter settled so that the Department of Justice can concentrate on more pressing issues.
“It is essential for the DOJ to prioritize significant matters. We should resolve this issue promptly, allowing them to address violent crime, public safety, election integrity, and investigate ActBlue, which are the concerns that the president is most focused on,” Johnson stated.
