Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., clashed with Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, during a House Oversight Committee hearing after Crockett repeated a debunked claim that the suspected assassin of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was a Trump supporter.
Crockett argued that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was aligned with the âMAGAâ movement, citing a statement from his grandmother that their family was âall MAGA.â
Greene pushed back, noting reports that Robinson had embraced left-wing ideology and had become outspoken on gay and transgender issues.
âSince I wasnât allowed equal time to debate, I have a receipt. It is from, it looks like Yahoo News, it says âCharlie Kirkâs suspect grandma says family is all MAGA,ââ Crockett said.
Greene followed up with reported facts about the case, all of which are at odds with Crockettâs characterizations.
âThank you Mr. Chairman, I can assure you that the man, the 22-year-old man, Tyler Robinson, that murdered Charlie Kirk is not MAGA,â Greene said.

âHis family may be Republican, but all of the evidence that is being presented proves that he is a far-leftist and very much integrated in online groups that are linked to Antifa. He was in a relationship with a biological male, a so-called furry, whatever that is, that is transitioning to be a fake woman. He was not MAGA, not one bit. That is a complete lie and itâs an insult to every single Republican and person that identifies with those type of politics,â Greene said.
âWe will not tolerate it and that is the exact type of language that is getting many of us death threats day after day and led to shootings on the baseball field where [House Majority Leader] Steve Scalise was shot,â the Republican congresswoman continued.
âThis is what led to President Trump nearly getting assassinated this past summer. This is what has led to Charlie Kirk getting assassinated. And so I just want to give a warning there, weâre not going to tolerate that anymore,â she added.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to the floor of the House on Friday ahead of a vote to memorialize Kirk, only to impugn his character and falsely claim he was anti-Semitic.
During her speech, she also suggested a âyesâ vote was akin to being supportive of the âJim Crowâ era of segregation and past bigotry.
âThe majority proceeded with a resolution that brings great pain to the millions of Americans who endured segregation, Jim Crow, and the legacy of bigotry,â she said.
âWe should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was: a man who believed that the Civil Rights Act, which granted Black Americans the right to vote, was a mistake,â she continued.
âWho, after the vile attack on Paul Pelosi, claimed that âsome amazing patriotâ should bail out his brutal assailant. And accused Jews of controlling not just the colleges, but also the non-profits, movies, and Hollywood,â Ocasio-Cortez continued.
She added: âHis rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans, far from the âworking tirelessly to promote unityâ asserted by the majority in this resolution.â

Kirk was assassinated on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, last week. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, was arraigned this week and charged with seven counts. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
