President Donald Trump told Fox News hosts that heās very concerned he may not get āto Heaven,ā adding that heās been told āIām really at the bottom of the totem poleā for it to happen.
His remarks followed high-stakes talks at the White House on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several European leaders, accompanied by a series of photo opportunities. The meetings came just days after Trump hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to secure a peace deal.
Trump phoned in for a lengthy interview on Tuesdayās edition of Fox & Friends, where he said his drive for peace agreements is part of his effort to āget to heavenā ā though he admitted heās been told that itās not going well.
āBut, you know, it takes, in this case, two to tango. They have to have somewhat of a relationship. Otherwise, weāre just wasting a lot of time. I donāt want to be doing that for āā Trump began.
āI just want to end it. I want to end it, you know, weāre not losing American lives, we are not losing American soldiers. We are losing Russian and Ukrainian, mostly soldiers, some people as missiles hit wrong spots or get lobbed into cities like Kiev and towns,ā he said.

āBut, you know, if I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed⦠I think thatās a prettyā I want to try and get to heaven if possible, Iām hearing Iām not doing well. I hear Iām really at the bottom of the totem pole,ā the president added.
āBut if can get to Heaven, this will be one of the reasons. Well, I think I saved a lot of lives with India, Pakistan. They were going at it. There wereā the planes were being shot down. That was going to be maybe a nuclear war if I let that go,ā heĀ said.
Trump issued a statement following a historic meeting in the White House on Monday in another attempt to end the more than three-year-old conflict with Russia.
āI had a very good meeting with distinguished guests, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, of the United Kingdom, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, in the White House, which ended in a further meeting in the Oval Office,ā Trump began on Truth Social.
āDuring the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America,ā he said. āEveryone is very happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine.
āAt the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin, and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelenskyy,ā Trump wrote. āAfter that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself.ā
He concluded: āAgain, this was a very good, early step for a War that has been going on for almost four years. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine.ā
The various European leaders who attended also issued short statements following the meeting.
āI think that we had a very good conversation with President Trump⦠it was really good. We spoke about very sensitive points,ā Zelensky said.
āI really want to thank you, President of the United States, dear Donald, for the fact that you, as I said before, broke the deadlock basically with President Putin by starting the dialogue ⦠From there, here we are today,ā added Rutte.
Stubbe noted: āI think in the past two weeks, weāve probably had more progress in ending this war than we have in the past three-and-a-half years.ā
